Myanmar Competition Commission Held its Fourth Coordination Meeting

The fourth regular meeting of Myanmar Competition Commission was held on September 30, 2019 at the Conference Hall of Minister’s Office, Ministry of Commerce, Nay Pyi Taw.

At the meeting, the Union Minister (Ministry of Commerce), also the Chairman of Myanmar Competition Commission, made an opening speech about the need to make Myanmar Competition Commission an organization that the public, businessmen and customers can rely on. He said that nowadays the amount of complaints and consultations related to the Competition Law incoming to the Competition Commission has increased and it shows that the Commission has achieved a certain amount of trust and reliance from the public. He also said that awareness-raising campaigns have to be carried out so that the public will understand not only the Competition Law but also the methods of complaint. Raising awareness has to be performed through Media in order to have a wider impact and the Commission will organize briefings and discussions about the Competition related activities through regular meetings with the Media.
Then, the Office of Competition Commission briefed and discussed the completed activities regarding the decisions of the third regular meeting, the process of solving the received complaints, and the future plans. The Commission members added their remarks to the discussion and the meeting was successfully concluded at 14:00 PM.
